It seems like the economy in Maine, as well as across America, is increasing, which means hiring people for business can be more challenging for the employer.

WalletHub.com recently conducted a study on the best and worst states for jobs in America.

Maine tends to find herself somewhere in the middle when it comes to these types of studies.

On the one hand, it's good that Maine is not tanking, while it also shows that there are many points where the state can do better.

The best states for jobs are:

  • Washington
  • Colorado
  • Minnesota
  • Utah
  • New Hampshire

The worst states for jobs are:

  • West Virginia
  • Mississippi
  • Kentucky
  • Louisiana
  • Pennsylvania

Maine ranks 24th out of all 50 states overall.

Maine ranked 47th when it came to the lowest monthly average starting salary and lowest median annual income.

On a higher note, Maine ranked 12th in the country for good job markets.
