Orrington recently alerted its residents to a Fall clean-up event that's happening this month. They do it in the Spring, when people are opening up their homes for the warm weather, but I never really thought about Autumn cleaning.

It's a great idea, so people can get rid of all the things they don't want to store for the winter. I mean, let's face it, most of us tend to shove stuff in the garage or shed until Spring, and then haul it back out to take to a recycling event.

I'll admit, I am a Queen procrastinator, who puts unwanted things in a 'spare' room and shuts the door. Of course, if I just got rid of that stuff, it could be a 'functional' room. So I made a list of some things that Mainers (including me) should get rid of now, rather than later.

Some of these suggestions will be more challenging than others, especially number 11. But you'll feel so much better once the unwanted items are out of the house or garage and you can start accumulating new things to take their place.
