Micmac Farms will welcome guests from across the Crown of Maine at their Open Farms Day event taking place on Sunday, July 22nd  at 1353 Presque Isle Road, Caribou.

Open Farms Day is an event sponsored by the State of Maine Department of Agriculture bringing awareness to local agriculture and the importance of Maine Farms. All farms are welcome to host an Open Farms Day event on July 22nd  and open their doors to the public to share their mission and provide an interactive experience on Maine Farms.

Micmac Farms will open their doors Sunday, July  22nd , 10am – 3pm offering free samples of their local Maine brook trout, tours of their 34,000-gallon recirculating fish hatchery, lawn games, a  coloring table, gift basket giveaway, and educational displays. Organized family fun events will take place at the following times:

11:30am Children’s Water Balloon Toss (Prize, 1 pint of salsa)

11:50am Children’s 3-Legged Race (Prize, 1 pint of salsa)

12:10pm Children’s Sack Race (Prize, 1 pint of salsa)

12:50am Men’s Hay Bale Toss (Prize, 1.2 lbs of fresh Maine brook trout)

12:50am Women’s Skillet Throw (Prize, 1.2 lbs of fresh Maine brook trout)

Families will hopefully leave this event with an understanding of the farm’s pledge not to use antibiotics or harmful chemicals, the impact on local food production, land based aquaculture,  and having had a fun, hands-on experience at the farm.
