Immerse Yourself in Maine’s Fall Foliage With Covered Bridge Kayak Tour
As summer in Maine begins to wind down, trees in every part of the state have already begun to change color. Soon enough, people will travel to Vacationland from all across the country to peep the spectacle that is the lush, color-changing trees.
Typically, people live out their leaf peeping dreams by driving in their car or hiking on foot. But one particular experience on Airbnb will let you leaf peep in a totally different way with a guided kayak tour.
The leaf peeping trek will start at a public boat launch in Windham, Maine. Paddlers will be guided along the Presumpscot River with local stories and legends as they take in the surrounding beauty.
The kayak tour will also arrive at Babb's Bridge. Babb's is one of the most famous covered bridges in Maine, and the tour allows for ample photo opportunities as well as some rich history about why people go out of their way to visit the landmark.
Past guests have remarked in comments on Airbnb that the kayak tour is a different perspective for leaf peeping and less physically-challenging than they were expecting. Some remarked that besides the gorgeous fall colors, they also saw some bald eagles along the way.
The guided kayak tour generally lasts around two hours. Kayak tour dates begin in mid-to-late September and continue throughout the abbreviated leaf peeping season. Individual and tandem kayaks are available for those that would prefer not to paddle while still enjoying the fall foliage.
