Maine’s Best Hole-In-The-Wall Restaurant Is One of the Best in US
Our Pine Tree State is home to so many incredible restaurants, but one, in particular, is being compared to others across the country!
Seriously, Maine is packed with incredible restaurants, offering something special from the Piscataqua River Bridge all the way up to the northern tip of Madawaska. No matter where you go in between, there’s always a delicious bite waiting for you!
With that in mind, we have some questions: What criteria are being considered, and who exactly is making this call?
LoveFood's report, ‘Your State's Best Hole-in-the-Wall Restaurant,’ highlights hidden gems across the U.S. by combining user reviews, awards, and their team's firsthand experiences. These restaurants, often unassuming from the outside, are celebrated for their welcoming atmospheres and outstanding food.
Now that we’ve set the stage, which ‘hole-in-the-wall’ restaurant in Maine is being recognized as one of the best in the United States?
Again, according to LoveFood and their report, ‘Your State's Best Hole-in-the-Wall Restaurant,’ the title of Maine’s best hole-in-the-wall restaurant goes to Palace Diner in Biddeford. Here’s what LoveFood had to say about their choice:
More of a hole-in-the-trolley than a hole-in-the-wall, the tiny Palace Diner is nevertheless an unlikely spot to find such excellent food. The 15-seat diner, set inside a trolley car, has an even smaller menu, with just a handful of breakfast dishes and lunchtime sandwiches on offer. Diners describe dishes like the tuna melt as life-changing, although everything is sublime. The bright red trolley was built by the Pollard Company in 1927 and is one of two such structures that can still be found in the country.
So there you have it—Palace Diner in Biddeford is not only Maine’s best hole-in-the-wall restaurant but also holds its own against some of the best in America!
