Marden's Opens in Farmington, Maine
"Marden's in Farmington is NOW OPEN!," the company said on its Facebook page Thursday. "That's right - bargain hunting in Western Maine is back."
The family-run business is celebrating its return to western Maine after its Rumford location closed in January 2023, citing unaddressed safety issues.
When did the original Marden's open?
The company was Harold "Mickey" Marden in 1964.
Marden went to auctioneer's school in Iowa and later purchased a small auction house in Fairfield.
The auction house eventually became the site of the original Marden's.

What will you find at Marden's?
The company says that due to their unique approach to inventory sourcing, it's hard to say what items and deals you will find in a given Marden's location.
Most of their items come from surplus, salvage, and overstock lots.
Inventory differs from store to store, and what is available at one location on a given day may no longer be available at the same store the very next day.
