Gas prices in New England remained relatively steady over the past week.

The daily survey of gas outlets by price-monitoring website GasBuddy.com showed prices at the pump around New England held steady.

Here in Maine, the average retail price of a gallon of gas remained unchanged from last week, coming in at $2.83 a gallon. In Presque Isle, the price at most outlets Monday morning was $2.88 a gallon.

In New Hampshire, prices decreased by 1.6 cents a gallon to $2.80, while prices at the pumps in Vermont rose less than a penny to an average of $2.90 a gallon.

The national average has dropped 10.7 cents a gallon in the past month to $2.84 a gallon. That's 62.5 cents a gallon higher that one year ago.
