Gas Prices Rise Leading up to Memorial Day
Prices at the pump nosed up a bit around the region leading into the Memorial Day weekend.
According to GasBuddy.com, here in Maine, the price rose nearly a penny to an average $2.34 a gallon. Pumps in Presque Isle showed a price of $2.40 a gallon.
Elsewhere across New England, New Hampshire gas prices increased 1.1 cents to $2.31 a gallon and Vermont showed a 1.4 cent boost to $2.37 a gallon.
Across the country, the national average fell almost a penny to $2.36 a gallon which is almost 2 cents cheaper than a month ago, but 3-and-a-half cents higher than it was a year ago at this time.
A senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy.com says Maine saw the cheapest Memorial Day at the pump since 2005.
