Cary Medical to Host Opioid Documentary

A documentary film, ‘Recovery Boys,' is being shown at Cary Medical Center in cooperation with Recovery Aroostook.

The film will be shown on Friday, November 8^th at 6:00 pm in the Chan Center at the hospital. Four men attempt to reinvent their lives and reenter society sober after years of drug abuse in the midst of America's opioid epidemic.

'Recovery Boys' takes an intimate look at the strength, courage and brotherhood that it takes to overcome addiction and reveals the internal conflict of recovery and the external challenges of an unsympathetic society. The film was directed by Academy Award nominated director Elaine McMillion-Sheldon.

Multiple communities across Maine are screening the film thanks to a state grant through the office of Gordon Smith, Maine Opioid Response Director. Bill Flagg, Director of Community Relations and Development at Cary Medical Center said that the hospital is pleased to host the event and that the hospital has been engaged in the recovery community over the past three years.

Those interested in seeing the film, ‘Recovery Boys,’ are asked to pre-register as seating is limited.  The screening is free and open to the public.
