Cary Medical Center Named to Harvard Pilgrim Honor Roll

(Caribou, Maine, April 6, 2015…)  Cary Medical Center has been named to the Harvard Pilgrim Honor Roll along with 13 other hospitals in Maine.  The Honor Roll recognizes those adult, acute care hospitals whose performance was among the top 25% of those measured nationally on a set of composite quality and patient experience measures, as reported by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on Hospital, Compare, and Leapfrog patient safety measures.

To be named to the 2014 Honor Roll, a hospital was required to meet a number of quality and patient experience measures including ‘Process of Care’ measures in such areas as Cardiac Care, Pneumonia and Surgical Care.  The hospital must also score 5 out of 8 questions at or above the national average on HCAHPS patient experience measures, and must have strong overall patient safety scores as measured by the Leapfrog group.

Kris Doody, RN, and Chief Executive Officer at Cary Medical Center said that being named to the Harvard Pilgrim Honor Roll is a further demonstration of the high quality care that is being delivered by staff at the hospital.

“We have been very pleased with the latest data measuring the quality of care being delivered at Cary”, said Doody.  “We have really tried to set very high standards and our staff continues to raise the bar even higher.  Providing such a high level of patient care, including clinical services, overall patient experience and patient safety is truly a team effort and our staff continues to demonstrate that such care has become a way of life here.  We are very proud of our staff and it is just the right thing to do for our patients and families.”
