A 31-year-old woman was charged with leaving the scene of a chain reaction crash on I-295 in Yarmouth.

The Maine State Police said Emily-Ann Kittredge from Vermont “used an “authorized vehicles only” crossover to enter the northbound lanes, resulting in a chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles.”
Troopers Responded to the Crash Site
Troopers responded to the multi-vehicle crash around 4:18 pm on Friday.
Witness Took Photo of Vehicle Involved in Multi-Vehicle Crash
Kittredge left the acne of the crash. A witness took a photograph of her black 2026 Jeep Compass and her license plate.

Female Suspect Located and Charged
Police were able to identify and locate her in Portland.
Multiple Charges Including Leaving the Scene of an Accident
Kittredge was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident and other motor vehicle violations.

Crash Investigation is Ongoing
The investigation is ongoing. No injuries were reported. I-295 in the area was closed and then reopened.

“Authorized vehicle crossovers are for official emergency and maintenance use only. Unauthorized use creates significant safety risks for all motorists,” according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.
