A 66-year-old woman died and two children were injured Friday after a head-on crash in East Millinocket.

Woman Died after Head-On Crash

The East Millinocket Police Department said the woman from Medway was flown by LifeFlight to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center where she died from her injuries.

Two Children Injured

Two children, a 6-year-old and 8-year-old, were passengers in her sedan. They were both injured. One was transported by ambulance to Northern Light EMMC. The other child was evaluated and released.

One Man in Second Vehicle

The 35-year-old man driving a Chevy 3500 refused medical transport, said police. Names were not released.

Vehicle Crossed Centerline and Corrected

The crash happened on Route 157 around 12:30 pm after the woman’s vehicle crossed the centerline. Police said the man tried to avoid the head-on collision by going into the opposite lane when she corrected and struck his truck.

Rollover Crash

The Chevy 3500 rolled over in the crash and the sedan had extensive front-end damage. The crash remains under investigation.
