A 67-year-old woman was arrested Monday and charged with drug possession after deputies seized meth during a bail check in Charleston, Maine.

Charged with Unlawful Drug Possession and Violation of Conditions of Release

Lou Ann Smock from Charleston was taken into custody around 1:45 pm and charged with Unlawful Drug Possession and Violation of Conditions of Release.

Deputies Found Drugs During Proactive Bail Check at Residence

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office conducted a proactive bail check at her residence on Puddle Road.

Woman Out on Bail for Prior Aggravated Drug Trafficking Charge

Smock was out on bail for Aggravated Drug Trafficking for a prior charge. Police had executed a search warrant and seized close to 1,000 grams of meth.

Woman Tried to Conceal or Destroy Evidence of Illegal Materials

“During the course of the bail search, a Sheriff’s Office supervisor observed Smock attempting to conceal or destroy evidence. The supervisor successfully intervened, preventing the destruction of the illicit materials,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Transported to County Jail and Booked with Ongoing Investigation

Deputies seized meth and Smock was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and booked. The investigation is active and remains open.
