A wanted man was arrested Friday night after he pointed a handgun at a deputy and was shot following a police chase in Turner.

Wanted on an Outstanding Felony Warrant

Christopher Lebrun was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant. Androscoggin County Deputy Kurt Fegan attempted to stop him around 10:15 pm.

Driver Fled at High Rate of Speed

Lebrun did not stop and fled at a high rate of speed. He led the deputy on a police chase on Plains Road in Turner.

Suspect Crashed Vehicle into a Tree during Pursuit

The pursuit continued to the intersection of Main Street and General Turner Hill Road. Lebrun crashed into a tree at the intersection.

Man Shot Twice after Pointing Gun at Deputy

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office said “Deputy Fegan exited his vehicle to confront Mr. Lebrun as he exited his vehicle. Mr. Lebrun pointed his gun at Deputy Fegan and Mr Lebrun was shot two times.”

Suspect Transported to Hospital with Injuries

Lebrun was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland to undergo treatment for his injuries.

Deputy Injured and Taken to Hospital

Deputy Fagan was transported to Central Maine Medical Center for a knee injury sustained during the incident. He was later released.

Criminal Charges Pending

Criminal charges are pending for Lebrun. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maine is investigating the case.

Deputy Placed on Administrative Leave

“Deputy Fegan has been placed on administrative leave as is standard protocol when a police officer is involved in the use of deadly force,” said the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
