A 33-year-old wanted man was arrested after a police standoff in Sidney on Wednesday.

Suspect Arrested after Standoff with Police

The Maine State Police said Marlon Cloutier from Augusta was taken into custody at a residence on Sunset Ridge.

Wanted Man with Several Charges

He was wanted in Penobscot County for Felony Burglary, Theft of Firearms, Violation of Conditional Release, Violation of a Protection Order and Possession of a Firearm.

Suspect was at Relative’s Home

Police received information that Cloutier was at a relative’s home around 8:15 am Wednesday. People who lived there had left after he arrived, said police.

Area Evacuated

Law enforcement evacuated nearby homes and closed the area to traffic.

“Recent Threats of Violence”

The State Police Tactical Team and Crisis Negotiation Team “due to the nature of the warrant and recent threats of violence.”

Eight Hour Standoff with Police

Cloutier was apprehended after eight hours of negotiations. He was taken to the Kennebec County Jail.

Multiple Charges

He was charged with Creating a Police Standoff, Violation of Bail, Possession of Scheduled W Drugs and Refusing to Submit to Arrest of Detention.
