A 61-year-old man died Saturday and a 28-year-old man was seriously injured after two motorcycles crashed on I-95 in Sidney.

61-year-old Man was Ejected and Died at the Scene

Adam Robinson from Sangerville was ejected from his 2006 Harley Davidson and pronounced dead at the scene around 5:36 pm.

28-year-old Man was Ejected and Seriously Injured

Jayson Lancaster from Carmel was also ejected from his 2008 Harley Davidson and was seriously injured. He was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

Two Men Passed Another Vehicle Before Crash

The Maine State Police said the crash happened after the two men passed another vehicle and were merging back into the right lane.

Brakes Seized on Motorcycle after Mechanical Defect

“Robinson’s motorcycle appeared to have a mechanical defect which caused the brakes to seize,” according to Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.

Second Rider Could Not Avoid Crash

Lancaster was in close proximity and was unable to avoid the crash.

The investigation remains open. The Maine State Police was assisted by Sidney Rescue and MaineDOT.
