Two Men Escape Injury After Dyer Brook Crash
Two men were lucky to escape injury after the tractor trailer they were traveling in went off the interstate in Dyer Brook overnight.
State Police say that around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, 27-year-old Lamar Meriwether of St. Louis, Missouri was operating a 1997 Western Star tractor trailer owned by Big Rock Transportation of East Peru, Indiana.
The tractor trailer unit was traveling north on I-95 when it veered off the roadway around mile 281 in Dyer Brook and ended up in the snowbank.
A passenger, 26-year-old Michael Taylor, was asleep in the sleeper portion of the cab at the time of the crash. Police say Meriwether was wearing his seat belt and neither occupant was injured.
The tractor trailer was damaged, but was able to be driven from the scene after it was towed out of the ditch Wednesday morning.
The northbound lanes of the Interstate were shut down for a short time during that period.
