For the fifth consecutive year, to recognize area Veterans for their service, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Hayward-Frazier Post #2599, in cooperation with the Presque Isle Elks, Lodge #1954, the Aroostook Shrine Club, Crown Ambulance Service, and the Presque Isle Fire Department will be serving a Thanksgiving-style dinner free of charge for all area military Veterans and current military personnel and their families, on Sunday, November 19, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Aroostook Shrine Club, 390 Houlton Road in Presque Isle.

As in the past, the menu for this annual event is a traditional, Thanksgiving meal of roast turkey, baked country-style ham, mashed potatoes, garden salad, gravy, mixed vegetables, rolls, and a variety of pies from Governor’s Restaurant and Bakery.

During this event there will be live musical entertainment, as well as drawings for door prizes.

For military Veterans unable to leave their homes, Crown Ambulance Service will be delivering the Thanksgiving-style meals to shut-in Veterans free of charge.  To request a delivered meal, Veterans are urged to call Ron Mullen at 595-1085.

For Veterans simply unable to drive to the dinner, members of the Presque Isle Elks, Lodge #1954, will provide transportation free of charge.  Veterans may obtain transportation by calling the Presque Isle Elks Lodge at 764-0985.

VFW Commander Richard Norton, Elks Exalted Ruler Marion Donahue, crews from the Presque Isle Fire Department and Crown Ambulance urge all area military Veterans to attend this event in order to receive the appreciation of their community for their military service.
