An extended family of six was displaced by a fire Sunday in the village of Clair, New Brunswick just across the border from Fort Kent.

The 26th Annual Family Health Fair will be held on Saturday, August 8th, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Eagle Lake Health Center.

So I have 5 kids. My oldest daughter is a teenager who will be entering high school in the Fall. That will bring with it a myriad of challenges I'm sure. I'm not quite sure I'm prepared for them, but I'm not really worried because she's a great kid with a good head on her shoulders. Every parent says that, right?

So we had family visiting this past weekend, which means there were more kids to add to the fun. One of the grown-ups suggested an activity and my brood got excited. For the rest of the day I felt like the worst parent in the world.

Terry Grant went to his doctor with a cold that he couldn't shake. It turns out Terry was suffering from something a lot more serious and his condition deteriorated quickly. He was flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center where he has been since just before Christmas, missing the holidays with his family.

So we've cleaned up from Christmas, sort of. For some reason candy has become a part of the holidays so there are still wrappers strewn about the house because my kids can't be bothered to clean up after themselves. Oh yeah, my kids. Did I mention they're home from school for another week? I don't have much hair left to rip out.

When your child needs to be punished, how much is too much?  How much is not enough?  What actually works and reverses the undesirable behavior?  How many kids are getting a free ride because their parents want to be their friend as opposed to their parent?

Why is it a grandparents job to spoil YOUR kids?  They didn't spoil you when you were that young.  Or at least it didn't seem like it.  I think kids in general get what they want these days, which is a shame sometimes.  They should learn the value of and the feeling of accomplishment that comes with earning something.  Grandparents screw that up all the time.

I was inspired by a recent article to try to downsize my technologically advanced household. Now, we’re not overboard by any stretch, but my kids love their video games and their new satellite television. Luckily my teenage daughter is the only one with a cell phone – besides her parents...

What did I do this weekend?  I created a bicycle convoy of mini versions of myself that gently made its way through pieces of the Star City via a designated paved route.  Um... My kids and I went on the bike path.
