A 41-year-old man was sentenced to 6 years in prison for firearms possession after conviction in Maine.

Firearms Possession after Prior Conviction

Raymond Lilly from Augusta was charged with possessing a firearm after previously being convicted of at least one felony offense.

Pleaded Guilty

He was given 6 years in prison with 3 years of supervised release. Lilly pleaded guilty to the charges on May 2, 2025.

Pills Seized

Lilly was arrested in September 2023 after police saw a bottle of pills in his tent at an encampment in Mill Park. He told officers he did not have a prescription for the drugs.

Rifle Found in Tent

Police searched the tent and found a Smith & Wesson model M&P 15, .22 caliber rifle. Lilly was barred from having a firearm after a previous conviction in Maine.

Lead Investigators

Investigating the case was the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case in conjunction with the Augusta Police Department.
