A 33-year-old man was sentenced to almost 6 years in prison for drug trafficking in Maine.
Sentenced to 70 Months in Prison
Lucas Michaud from Ellsworth was given 70 months with five years supervised release. He pleaded guilty on January 13, 2025.
Drug Trafficking and Money Laundering Charges
He was charged with conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances and conspiring to commit money laundering.
Meth Mailed to Maine
Michaud and co-conspirators trafficked meth in Maine from May 2022 to May 2023. “A source in California would mail shipments of methamphetamine to Maine,” said court records.
Drug Proceeds Sent Through Apps
Drug proceeds were sent through money services like Walmart2Walmart, Cash App, and Venmo.
Money Laundering
“This was done to conceal and disguise the source’s involvement in the transactions and the money laundering," said the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Chief Investigators
The case was investigated by the FBI, the U.S. Postal Service, Ellsworth Police Department, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, Holden Police Department, and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
