
Infant Suspected of Overdose Revived with Narcan in Maine
An unresponsive infant with no pulse was revived with two doses of Narcan at a home in Eddington.
Infant Saved with Narcan by Sheriff’s Office
The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office said a supervisor was nearby the residence around 2:28 pm and responded quickly to a call for a cardiac arrest involving an infant on Clewleyville Road.
Infant with No Pulse in Driveway of Home with Parents
The infant was in the driveway with the parents and was unresponsive, not breathing, and had no detectable pulse when the supervisor started CPR.

Infant May Have Been Suffering from Overdose and Narcan Used
“Information was presented that the child may have been suffering from an overdose involving an unknown substance. He administered two doses of Narcan (naloxone), an opioid reversal medication, while continuing lifesaving CPR efforts,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Two Doses of Narcan Used to Revive Infant
A second dose of Narcan was administered and the infant started to show signs of life and was revived.

The Presence of Opioid was Detected in the Infant’s System
The presence of an opioid was detected after the infant was transported to the hospital.

The Case is Currently Under Investigation
The investigation is ongoing. First responders to the scene included Eddington Fire & Rescue, Holden Fire & Rescue, and Northern Light Ambulance Service.
