Several police agencies in Maine are investigating after a man with a gunshot wound was treated at a Lewiston hospital.

Where Was the Victim Found?

The details of the shooting are a mystery, which is prompting the multiple-agency investigation. It began at around 4:00 Sunday afternoon when members of the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office were called to the Red Roof Grocery on U.S. Highway 202 in Leeds.

What Was the Extent of Their Injuries?

Responding Deputies found the victim, who was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with gunshot wounds. Police have not released the person's identity or revealed how badly they were hurt.

What Do Police Know So Far?

According to the Sun Journal, the Sheriff's Office notified the Maine State Police Department's Major Crimes Unit when they learned the shooting may have happened in Kennebec County. Officials say the victim was being interviewed but was not being overly cooperative with their investigation.
