Two people were displaced Wednesday after a house fire in Presque Isle.

House Fire Displaced Two People and Destroyed Home

The Presque Isle Fire Department responded to the scene around 1:56 pm at 17 School Street.

Neighbors Reported the Fire after Seeing Smoke

Neighbors had reported smoke coming from the residence.

Fire crews encountered heavy smoke when they started battling the blaze.

Two People Were Outside When Fire Crews Responded to the Scene

Two people had escaped the fire and were already outside when the fire department arrived.

Ongoing Fire Investigation with No Injuries Reported

No injuries were reported. The investigation remains open and ongoing.

Firefighters Extinguished the Blaze in Three Hours

Crews worked for three hours to extinguish the fire.

Assisting the Presque Isle Fire Department was the Caribou Fire Department with the Easton Fire Department covering the Presque Isle station.

Maine Fire Marshal’s Office said House was a Total Loss

The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office said the home was determined to be a total loss.
