New NBC Affiliate Coming to the County

Hitting the airwaves later this year, a new NBC affiliate will be joining the WAGM family of networks.

 The new affiliate, WWPI, NBC 16, will be added to the CBS, FOX and CW networks already in the WAGM stable. Viewers will be able to watch the NBC affiliate on Channel 16, originating at the WAGM studios in Presque Isle.

This marks the return of NBC to the station's lineup from when WAGM carried programming from all 3 of the major networks, CBS, NBC and ABC years ago.

WAGM began broadcasting back on October 13, 1956 as a CBS affiliate. The Fox and CW affiliations were launched in 2006 and 2018, respectively, on the stations digital substations.

WAGM's newscasts will also be carried on the new WWPI station. No word on what will happen to the programming of NBC affiliate WLBZ in Bangor.
