Okay, admittedly I don't get out much. I work too much and I have an army of children. When I do get a chance to get out to see a movie it's not very often that, at least lately, that I can say I was blown away enough to write about it.

Over the weekend, I took my two oldest kids to see the latest Marvel installment 'Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier.' I had seen the first movie, which set up the story very well. I'm not a big comic book guy but I do enjoy the series of flicks that have been done so far. Everything from 'Iron Man 1,2, and 3' to 'Captain America' to 'The Avengers.' I like the heroic fantasy thing because let's face it, reality is the pits sometimes.

All three of us left the theater wanting more. This movie was a wild ride full of action, subtle comedy, and a great story. What they can do with digital effects these days basically makes anything possible and this movie does not disappoint in that department. The cast is solid and there are so many twists, turns, and surprises that I know I yelled out loud in the theater a couple of times. Always do that when you're watching with teenagers, it's the best.

Someone asked me if they need to have seen the first movie to appreciate the second. Not really. It'll definitely help, but this movie rocks on its own. I highly recommend it. Tune in again in about six months when I finally get out to see another movie in the theater.
