Man Sentenced to 3 Years for Drug Trafficking in Maine
A 25-year-old man was sentenced Wednesday to 3 years in prison for Drug Trafficking in Maine.
Three Year Sentence for Drug Trafficking
Darwin Mateo was charged with possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute. He will also have three years of supervised release. Mateo pleaded guilty on March 1, 2024.
Search Warrant Executed at Residence
Mateo was arrested in August 2023 after a search warrant was served at a Biddeford residence, according to court documents.
Large Amount of Fentanyl Seized
Officers found two large bundles of a substance containing fentanyl. Police seized 541 grams of fentanyl in numerous individual baggies.
Bundles of Narcotics Located
“One bundle was located inside a backpack in a locked bedroom. The other bundle was discovered hidden at the bottom of the stairwell, a few inches from where investigators located Mateo,” said investigators.
Man Admitted to Distributing Fentanyl
Mateo admitted the backpack belonged to him. He also told police he had traveled from Massachusetts to distribute fentanyl.
