A man died after he was hit by a projectile from a mini cannon at a fireworks display in Roxbury.

Died at the Scene

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said 41-year-old Joseph Hennessey from South Paris died at the scene.

Man Collapsed at Private Fireworks Display

Deputies were called to the residence after a report of a man who had collapsed at a gathering during a private fireworks display Saturday night.

Autopsy Results

An autopsy showed that Hennessey died after he was “struck and killed by a projectile discharged by a mini cannon at the time of the fireworks display,” according to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner.

Open Investigation

The investigation is active and ongoing by the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit.
