Man Charged with Drug Trafficking after Investigation in Maine
A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with aggravated drug trafficking after a months-long investigation in Biddeford.
Drug Trafficking at Encampment Near Railroad Tracks
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said Brandon Gelsomini was the main drug trafficker after reports of illicit drug sales along James Street at an encampment near the railroad tracks.
Months-Long Drug Trafficking Investigation
The two-month long investigation involved the MDEA and the Biddeford Police Department and community reporting to identify him as a suspect.
DEA Agents and Police Executed Warrant
A search warrant was executed for Gelsomini’s tent on October 29 at 7:00 am including MDEA agents, the Biddeford Police Department, USDEA, and the York County Sheriff’s Department.
Tent in Close Proximity to High School
“Due to Biddeford High School being in such close proximity, an early morning service of the warrant was requested,” said the MDEA. Gelsomini was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant.
Drugs and Trafficking Items Seized
Police seized 120 grams of Fentanyl, 21 grams of Cocaine Hydrochloride (powder), 5 grams of Cocaine Base (Crack) and other drug trafficking items.
Loaded Shotgun and Drug Proceeds Found
Also found and seized was a loaded shotgun and approximately $7,000 in suspected drug proceeds. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $14,000.
Suspect Faces Multiple Charges
Gelsomini was charged with Aggravated Drug Trafficking and Violation of Bail Conditions. He was taken to the York County Jail with a court date set for Friday, October 31.
Active and Ongoing Investigation
The ongoing investigation includes the Saco Police Department, the Old Orchard Police Department, the Biddeford Fire Department, and Biddeford Code Enforcement.
