If you can't make it to Portland that weekend, you also have a chance to catch another lighted boat parade and fireworks in Boothbay Harbor.
This year, on December 6, the 37th annual lighted boat parade kicks off, which has become a wonderful festive tradition for many years.
There is a full day of holiday cheer beginning with Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving at Whale Park to visit the Pot Buoy Tree. Afterwards, there is the community tree-lighting ceremony on the Library Lawn, where you get to see Santa light the tree.
Then you can enjoy Boothbay's offerings by shopping and grabbing a bite to eat as you get ready for the lighted boat parade happening at 6:45 p.m. Shortly after the parade, amazing fireworks will light up the sky and the inner harbor.
Whether you're hopping on a holiday cruise, watching the boats glow as they move through the harbor, or heading up to Boothbay for its long-loved boat parade, there's something special about celebrating the holidays by the coast. These events bring people together in the best way.
