Did You Know Darth Vader was Created in Maine?
James Earl Jones IS Darth Vader. His voice created the perfect antagonist for the timeless series of films known as Star Wars. Without Jones, there is no Darth Vader, but he wasn't the only ingredient required in producing Darth Vader. Without a splash of the galaxy far, far away referred to as Maine, there is no Darth Vader, either. In fact, many of Hollywood's iconic characters would never exist without Maine. I shall expound.
James Earl Jones, George Lucas, John Williams and Maine Produced Darth Vader
George Lucas is the main ingredient when it comes to creating Darth Vader and Star Wars. Nobody will argue that. BUT - to create the Darth Vader that is still popular today, decades after the supervillain were first introduced to the world, we need James Earl Jones. That cadence. That delivery. That VOICE!
George Lucas and James Earl Jones alone would create a fearsome Darth Vader ... but not legendary. What is missing? If you clicked the YouTube video above, you already know a crucial ingredient necessary for the Darth Vader that we cherish today. Composer John freakin' Williams and HIS "Imperial March."
You do not have Darth Vader without the music. You don't even have Star Wars without the music all composed by John Williams. In fact, so many of Hollywood's biggest characters do NOT exist without John Williams. See below for all the iconic films that would not nearly be as revered if it weren't for Williams' brilliance and creativity with their respective scores.
So, Where in the Galaxy Does Maine Play a Role in Creating Darth Vader?
I love ah-ha moments are we're about to have one together. Let's recap. Darth Vader needs Lucas. Darth Vader and Lucas need Jones. Darth Vader, Lucas, and Jones need Williams. Without either, there is no Darth Vader.
Without Maine, there is NO John Williams.
What did you just read? You just read a fact. John Williams' father was Johnny Williams. Johnny Williams' parents ran a department store in Bangor, Maine. Johnny's passion was music, and that clearly rubbed of onto his prolific son. Johnny Williams (Sr) was a Maine man but took his son (John Williams the composer) to NYC, then Los Angeles, and the rest, as they say, was history.
There you have it. For today's Darth Vader, you need four pivotal pieces, with one of those being Maine. I highly encourage you to read or watch anything on the lives of both John Williams and James Earl Jones. Both have had inspiring lives and careers. We recently lost James Earl Jones on September 9th, 2024. John Williams is 92 years old, and you can check out all the characters that he (AND MAINE) gave life to through music, below.
