We can count ourselves lucky to live in such a beautiful and wondrous state.

Not everyone can step outside their home and find themselves just a short walk or drive away from scenic wonders. And now, Maine is being recognized for this incredible beauty.

Is Maine One of the Most Beautiful States in the Nation?

The popular site Traveler's Elixir recently published an article all about America's remarkable natural beauty. The site ranked every state in order from—well—the ugliest to the prettiest. And wouldn't you know it, the Pine Tree State found itself quite far up the list.

Maine finished with a ranking of 15th. It's the second-highest ranked state from New England (Vermont came in 13th), as well as the second-highest ranked state from the entire Northeast. This is quite an impressive position for Maine, a state that prides itself on its wondrous environment, immaculate coastline, and diverse wildlife.

Here’s what Traveler's Elixir had to say about why it ranked Maine in the Top 15:

Maine features a mix of rugged coastlines, dense forests and picturesque mountains. The state is home to breathtaking spots like Acadia National Park...and the iconic Portland Head Light, one of the most photographed lighthouses in America. With its charming small towns, vibrant fall foliage and serene lakes like Moosehead Lake, Maine is a true beauty.

That brief write-up perfectly encapsulates what makes Maine so unique. The state's diverse landscape provides a welcoming environment for all to enjoy. Grasslands, forests, wetlands, foothills, rocky mountains, and coastlines all offer both Mainers and tourists ample opportunities to experience some of the greatest scenery this country has to offer.

Even with development seemingly out of control in some communities, much of the state remains wonderfully remote.
