3 Legendary Dishes in Maine That Everyone Needs to Try at Least Once
It’s Maine, let’s dig into the real Maine eats. Lobster normally hogs the spotlight, but if you want to eat like a real Mainer, there are three legendary and slightly weird local favs.

If you are just visiting or recently moved, you will probably be surprised to hear the word, Poutine. And this is what dreams and food naps are made of.
Maine’s iconic poutine is pure comfort, golden fries piled high with cheesy curds and drowned in rich delicious gravy. That is poutine.

Red Snapper Hot Dogs
You hate it or love it, that’s what a red snapper does to you. Sparks intense happiness or intense grossness. If you’ve never bitten into this bright red hot dog with a snap louder than your Aunt Barbs gum chewing, are you even from here?
They are a Maine staple and you will find them everywhere this summer.
From cookouts, to gas stations, red snappers are snapping all over Maine. And yes, they are red on purpose, but nobody knows why.
Fiddleheads
These curly green veggie treats look like they belong in Gandalf’s wizard garden. Fiddleheads are wild ferns and show up for like 10 minutes each spring and Mainers just about lose their minds to grab them.
