Ice Cube and Gene Simmons are still trading barbs over N.W.A's recent induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Following Simmons' statement that he was "looking forward to the death of hip-hop" after it was announced the Compton group would be inducted, Cube addressed Simmons' comments during his acceptance speech at the Rock Hall ceremony.

"Rock 'n' roll is not an instrument. It's not even a style of music. It's a spirit that's been going on since the blues, jazz, bebop, soul, rock 'n' roll, R&B, heavy metal, punk rock, and yes, hip-hop," he said. "Rock 'n' roll is not conforming to the people who came before you, but creating your own path in music and life. That is rock 'n' roll and that is us."

The next day, Simmons responded on Twitter: "Respectfully-- let me know when @JimiHendrix gets into the hip hop hall of fame. Then youll have a point."

On Monday (April 12), Cube tweeted his previous assertion directly to Simmons, posting the meme of his speech to his timeline and adding, "and I say this with a Kiss," which caused Simmons to again, state that hip-hop has no place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

"Cube - I stand by my words," he replied back. "Respect NWA, but when Led Zep gets into Rap Hall of Fame, I will agree with your point."

While there has been an ongoing discussion about whether or not hip-hop has a place in an institution that supposedly celebrates "rock and roll," despite the inductees' musical fluidity, this marks perhaps the most public feud surrounding the issue.

Either way, we'll see if Gene Simmons will "Bow Down" and chill with his stance against one of hip-hop's most important and influential voices in rap.
