The World’s Most Dangerous Group is now The World’s Most Celebrated Group. N.W.A was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Friday (April 8).

Dressed in all black, the surviving members - Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren and DJ Yella - were in attendance and grateful to be among the 2016 class of inductees. A short documentary was played, which showcasing the Compton group’s legacy in hip-hop.

Fellow Compton rhymer Kendrick Lamar was on hand to help enshrined his idols into the Rock Hall.

“Cube, where you at? The storytelling genius, every bar had us hangin’ on our seats," said K.Dot of Ice Cube (via Radio.com).

“Dre! The scientist, the perfectionist, the producer extraordinary...he’s one of the best producers of all time, through today. Believe that!” he added.

Lamar also reflected on the legacy of the late N.W.A member Eazy-E. “He was a true mastermind, his persona was unmatched, his high pitched tone spoke to nations across the globe. He’s the reason I’m proud to say I’m from Compton," he said.

The TDE rapper finished his speech saluting N.W.A and recognizing their importance in music history. “For me, it was a look of what was happening in our neighborhood. Chuck D once said rap was the black CNN, and N.W.A represented that to the fullest," he said.

During their acceptance speech, N.W.A also addressed the controversy surrounding their induction. KISS guitarist Gene Simmons felt that the group wasn't rock and roll enough to be inducted into the Rock Hall. The rock veteran even ridiculously declared that rap is a fad and that it will eventually die someday.

"I want to say to Mr. Gene Simmons that hip-hop is here forever. We're supposed to be here," said MC Ren as the crowd cheered with approval, according to Rolling Stone.

"The question is, 'Are we rock 'n' roll?'" Cube asked the audience. "And I say -- you goddamn right we rock 'n' roll."

"Rock 'n' roll is not an instrument. It's not even a style of music," he added. "It's a spirit that's been going on since the blues, jazz, bebop, soul, rock 'n' roll, R&B, heavy metal, punk rock, and yes, hip-hop."

Also in attendance, was Eazy-E's mother, Kathie Wright and his wife, Tomica Wright, who accepted his honorary induction trophy for him.

Congratulations to N.W.A on their induction into the 2016 Rock and Roll of Fame. It was long overdue and well-deserved.
