
Man Hit Two Sheriff’s Cruisers and Led Police on Chase in Maine
A 44-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after a police chase and hitting two Sheriff’s cruisers in Turner.
Facing Multiple Charges
Daniel M. Jackson was charged with refusing to submit to arrest, operating without a license, aggravated criminal mischief, eluding an officer, driving to endanger, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, criminal speed, failing to provide correct name/date of birth, escape, and violating conditions of release.
Signs of Impairment during Traffic Stop
The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office said Jackson was pulled over around 1:15 am on Airport Road. He gave a false name and showed signs of impairment.
Crashed into Two Cruisers and Fled
Jackson refused to exit his vehicle and then hit two cruisers as he fled the scene. He led police on a chase through Auburn and Lewiston.
Tire Deflation Device Used and Suspect Fled on Foot
A tire deflation device was used to stop and disable his vehicle. Jackson tried to flee on foot and was apprehended by Deputies.
Significant Amount of Drugs Ingested
Jackson told police he had taken a “significant amount” of drugs. He was transported to a local hospital and was medically released.
Broke Cruiser’s Window and Tried to Escape in Parking Lot
On the way to jail, Jackson broke a window in the Sheriff’s cruiser and tried to flee in the parking lot. He was taken into custody and booked. He was held without bail.
