In its daily survey of gas stations in Maine, found that regular gasoline has gone up 4.6 cents to an average $2.50 a gallon. Most stations in Presque Isle were showing a price of $2.68 a gallon Monday morning.

Meanwhile, next door in New Hampshire, pump prices there went up just 1.5 cents to $2.48 a gallon. And Vermont's prices rose 2.5 cents to an average $2.53 a gallon.

The national average climbed 6.5 cents a gallon this past week to $2.53 a gallon. That's 3.8 cents higher than last month and 32 cents a gallon higher than last year at this time.

GasBuddy says contributing factors in the higher prices were a major pipeline leak, oil prices hitting a new high and a higher demand for gas late in the season.
