A 65-year-old man from Fort Kent was critically injured Thursday morning on an electric bike after a crash with a van on Market Street in Fort Kent.

Man Seriously Injured after Electric Bike and Van Crash

Lonnie Charette had serious injuries and was transported to Northern Maine Medical Center. He was listed in critical condition. Charette was not wearing a helmet, said police.

Van Driver not Injured

The driver of the 2017 Dodge Caravan, 32-year-old Ian Bourgoin from St. Francis, was not injured.

Electric Bike and Van Crashed

Fort Kent Police Chef Michael DeLena said Bourgoin was on West Market Street and stopped at the intersection with Market Street. “The van pulled out in front of the bike which was traveling south bound. The van was attempting to travel northbound when merging into the flow of traffic.”

Street Temporarily Closed

Market Street was temporarily closed as police investigated the crash.
