Dr. Gehrig T. Johnson Accepts Interim Superintendent For MSAD1

With the resignation of Brian Carpenter, the Board of Directors has announced a temporary replacement for MSAD1 Superintendent of Schools until a new one is hired.

Lucy Richard, Chairman of the Board of Directors for MSAD1 School District, has announced that Dr. Gehrig T. Johnson has agreed to accept the position as the Interim Superintendent effective January 23 through June 30th, 2019.

The board made this statement concerning Dr. Johnson,

"We very much appreciate his return as we move forward in search of a permanent Superintendent that we plan to have in place July 1st."

Dr. Johnson has over three decades of dedicated leadership and service in MSAD1 and his new placement comes on the heels of Brian Carpenter's resignation last week.

The Maine School Management Association in Augusta is working on a list of suitable candidates for the Board of Directors to review so that they can make a decision in hiring the next Superintendent for schools in Presque Isle and Washburn.
