Moose can be more curious creatures than you might think. When this moose spotted a trail cam, he moved in for a close-up.

This curious bull moose was captured on a trail cam and submitted to the Bangor Daily News by Gail Smith. The newspaper then, in turn, shared it on its Instagram page.

We don't know exactly where this is, because it's Gail's secret spot to watch moose, but we do know that it's a pond somewhere in Somerset County.

Gail puts up a blind so that she stays out of sight to watch nature at its best. Boy, did she get a good one on this day.

I'm Ready For My Close Up

The bull moose was curious about the trail cam and wasn't shy in the least, walking right up to the camera and looking it over. At one point, he backed up enough so that his right eye was the only thing you could see in the video.

He was curious for a while, making some grunts and other noises, which we don't get to hear from moose all that often.

What to Do if You Encounter an Aggressive Moose

Bull Moose typically weigh about a thousand pounds. That's half a ton if you remember your math in school. That's a lot of moose coming at you if they decide to become aggressive or territorial. They may charge or attack if provoked, startled, or stressed by you being there. Be aware of signs of agitation through pinned ears or hair standing on end. Just back away slowly, and be on your way.
