The Wintergreen Arts Center is featuring the work of local artist Joanna Doughty and her show "Where I Go" during the month of March.

The opening reception for “Where I Go” is scheduled to be held during the March 4th First Friday Downtown Art Walk, from 6 to 8 pm  at Wintergreen Arts Center, 149 State Street, Presque Isle, Maine.

Joanna Doughty, sometimes known as Joanna R.D., studied sculpture and painting at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She was born in Canada in 1986, and grew up in the border town of Van Buren, Maine, surrounded by Acadian culture.

She says much of the inspiration for her work comes from the northern Maine landscape and culture.

Wintergreen Director Dottie Hutchins says Doughty's current painting series “Where I Go” references such places and themes with an imaginative and surreal flare, a sort of day dream. The majority of Doughty’s “Where I Go” series is created with oil-based paint.

Hutchins says the show offers a "beautiful opportunity to encourage an appreciation of the arts in Presque Isle. Wintergreen Arts Center is a strong supporter of First Friday Downtown Art Walk events where people can meet, unwind, and enjoy the arts. We invite everyone to experience the 'heART' of our community and the art of Joanna Doughty."
