A Madawaska Woman is Dead Following a Vehicle Accident

An accident on Route 1 near Madawaska yesterday afternoon has left an elderly woman dead. 

Police say 83 year old Rella Cyr was traveling south near the Madawaska-Grand Isle town line in her 2001 Nissan Altima around 2:30pm yesterday afternoon when she attempted to make a left turn.

Cyr’s vehicle was broadsided by a loaded logging truck driven by 50 year old Brian Voisine of Fort Kent. The truck is owned by J.R.S. Logging of Fort Kent.

Cyr was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Edmundston, New Brunswick, but she died a short time later. Voisine was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
