19 People, Including 10 Children, Displaced after Fire in Maine
Nineteen people, including 10 children, were displaced after a fire at an apartment complex on South Belfast Avenue in Augusta on Tuesday night.
Fire Started from Cooking Oil
The blaze started after cooking oil caught fire while a tenant was making french fries, said the Kennebec Journal.
Code Violations and Non-Functioning Smoke Detectors
Fire officials said the building did not have functioning smoke detectors and had several code violations.
Electrical System Needs to be Replaced
The exterior of the structure had minimal damage. The electrical system will need to be replaced. The investigation is ongoing.
