A 70-year-old woman was seriously injured Monday morning after an ATV crash in Stacyville.

Flown to Hospital by Helicopter in Critical Condition

Joyce Cummings from Stacyville sustained severe injuries and was flown by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. She was listed in critical condition.

One Woman Severely Injured in ATV Crash on Public Way

Cummings was the only one on the ATV when it crashed around 6:12 am on a public way near 389 Kelly Road.

Items Were Falling Off the Back of the ATV

“The preliminary investigation shows the ATV was traveling on the road when items began to fall off the back of the ATV. The ATV appeared to turn and crash,” said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.

Woman was Thrown from ATV and was not Wearing a Helmet

Cummings was thrown from the all terrain vehicle. She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Crash under Investigation by the Maine State Police

Officials are investigating the incident. Maine State Troopers were on the scene.
