Police have released the identity of a Waterville man whose death was ruled a homicide.

What Do We Know About the Deceased?

The deceased has been identified as Charles Bellows, 43, of Waterville. An autopsy revealed that he died of multiple sharp force injuries and the manner of death was determined to be homicide.

 Where Did This Happen?

It was just before 8:30 Sunday morning when Waterville Police requested the assistance of the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit in the investigation of a potentially suspicious death. The deceased was located at 119 Cool Street in Waterville.

Who Has Been Arrested?

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says Thomas Lowrie, 41, of Waterville was arrested on August 18th, 2024 and charged with murder. Police have not commented on whether Bellows and Lowrie knew each other or what a possible motive may have been for the murder.

Officials say there is no threat to the public.
