The Maine Warden Service says the accident happened at the intersection of the Sunrise snowmobile trail and a logging road. The sled crashed into the fully loaded logging truck at the intersection with Woods Road at about 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Officials say speed is believed to have been a factor in the accident. The victim’s name is being withheld, pending notification of family.

This is the 4th snowmobiling fatality in Maine this year. There have also been fatal crashes in Baldwin, New Sweden, and St George. All four fatal crashes have involved single machine accidents with one rider.
