PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (AP) — Maine Police say a grand jury has handed down indictments against a 38-year-old man in connection with a pair of shooting deaths in Castle Hill in August.

The Aroostook County Grand Jury handed down the indictments against Bobby Nightingale of Presque Isle on Friday. Police say he has been in Aroostook County Jail on an unrelated weapons charge since a week after the deaths of 51-year-old Roger Ellis and 25-year-old Allen Curtis in Castle Hill.

Nightingale has been charged with two counts of murder among other charges. Police increased patrols in the Castle Hill area after the discovery of the killings because the perpetrator remained at large.

The indictments against Nightingale stem from three separate incidents.

For the deaths of 25-year-old Allen Curtis and 51-year-old Roger Ellis on August 13 on Route 227 in Castle Hill. He was charged with 2 Counts: Intentional and Knowing Murder; 1 Count: Possession of Firearm by a Prohibited Person (Class C).

He also faces charges from an incident in Presque Isle in the early morning of August 5 when Presque Isle Police responded to a home invasion at 9 Elm Street. Nightingale was charged with 1 Count: Burglary (Class A); 1 Count: Robbery (Class A); 1 Count: Possession of Firearm by a Prohibited Person (Class C).

More charges relate to an incident on August 10 at a Castle Hill residence at 1961 State Road. The charges are 1 Count: Criminal Threatening with a Dangerous Weapon (Class C); 1 Count: Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person (Class C).

Nightingale's expected in court sometime next week. It was unclear Friday if he is represented by an attorney.
