Vehicle Gets Stuck Inside Home After Crash In Milford Sunday Night
The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office is investigating a crash that left a vehicle stuck inside a home Sunday evening.
According to the Milford Fire Department, one person was hospitalized.
"A vehicle crashed into a building on Main Road last night. Milford and Old Town firefighters extricated the driver, who was subsequently treated and transported to EMMC by Milford ambulance. This incident is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office."
A man who lives next door to the home said he had heard a number of sirens and watched cruisers pass his place at around 9 or 9:30 PM. Just after that, he heard a crash. That's when he ran outside.
According to a witness at the scene, a couple lives on the home's bottom floor that was struck. The vehicle apparently crashed into their spare room. He said one tenant was sleeping in the room above where the crash occurred.
WMTW reports that it took multiple crews from surrounding communities, working together, to make sure the building was stable before they were able to remove the vehicle structure.
"A car hit a pole and then slammed into the home, causing significant damage...Versant Power also had to secure the utility pole that was hit."
The Milford Fire Department said it had personnel on hand till about 3 AM Monday before they cleared the scene.
The Sheriff's Office is looking into the details of the crash. We will update the story as more information is released.
