Trooper Caleb Adams attempted to stop a 1998 Mazda pickup driven by Steven Pearl on the Shin Pond Road around 7:30 a.m. Pearl failed to stop and pulled into his residence, according to Sgt. Chad Fuller. Pearl got out of the truck and ran around the residence and into the woods.

A search was started utilizing a State Police K9 team, several Maine Game Wardens and a U.S. Border Patrol agent, Sgt. Fuller said. Pearl was located and arrested and escorted from a snowmobile trail back to the side of the road.

While waiting for transport, Pearl took off running again down a trail. He ran about 100 yards and then fell into the snow. Officers brought him back up to the road and he was transported to the Penobscot County Jail, Fuller said.

Pearl was booked on Aggravated Operating After Revocation, Eluding an Officer, Escape, Attaching False Plates, speeding 20 MPH over posted speed limit and failure to have valid inspection sticker.
