Incident Type: SPEAKING ENGAGEMENT Date: 5/01/2017 Town: Fort Kent Trooper: Tr. Desrosier Brief Synopsis: Tr. Desrosier and Tr. Curtain conducted a presentation relating to distracted driving to the senior students at the Fort Kent Community High School. Many of the students had questions regarding driving and using their mobile phones which the Troopers addressed. The Troopers also obtained a Distracted/Impaired Driving Simulator from the Maine Department of Highway Safety which showed the students the dangers of being distracted while they drive. Approximately 30 students used the simulator during the presentation.

Incident Type: SPEAKING ENGAGEMENT Date: 5/02/2017 Town: Staceyville Trooper: Tr. Adams Brief Synopsis: Tr. Adams conducted a speaking engagement at Katahdin School district for a health and wellness fair. Students had the opportunity to look in a State Police cruiser and see some of the gear that Troopers carry. Tr. Adams discussed the importance of wearing bicycle helmets while riding. There were many agencies represented as first responders at the fair.

Incident Type: CRIMINAL MISCHIEF Date: 5/03/2017 Town: Dyer Brook Trooper: Tr. Saucier Brief Synopsis: Tr. Saucier responded to a Dyer Brook residence when a homeowner reported that a caretaker of her property had found her front door kicked in. It did not appear anything was missing and the investigation is ongoing.

Incident Type: Criminal Traffic Date: 5/05/2017 Town: Bridgewater Trooper: Sgt. Clark Brief Synopsis: Sgt. Clark was driving on US Highway 1 and stopped a vehicle for an expired inspection certificate. During the course of the stop he learned that the driver did not have insurance on the vehicle and the registration plates were illegally attached. Sgt. Clark issued the 40-year-old male driver a criminal summons for illegal attachment of registration plates, traffic summons for speeding 76 mph in a 55 mph zone, and for not having insurance. The vehicle was towed from the roadway.

Incident Type: DRUGS Date: 5/05/2017 Town: Oakfield Trooper: Tr. Lilley Brief Synopsis: Tr. Lilley stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction in Oakfield. As the pickup was pulling over, the male passenger threw something out the window. Tr. Lilley discovered the man threw two needles out and that he was on probation. His probation officer was contacted and the man was brought to the jail where he submitted to chemical tests for drugs and alcohol. The man failed both tests and was held for a probation violation.

Incident Type: WARRANT Date: 5/06/2017 Town: Mapleton Trooper: Tr. Kilcollins Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins was running stationary radar on Route 163 in Mapleton. Tr. Kilcollins stopped a vehicle for speeding and during the course of the stop it was discovered the 22-year old-male passenger had an active warrant for his arrest. Tr. Kilcollins arrested the man without incident and transported him to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.

Incident Type: ARREST - OTHER Date: 5/06/2017 Town: Amity Trooper: Tr. Bell Brief Synopsis: Tr. Bell assisted a local police department by interviewing a male in Amity with regards to a protection order violation. During the interview the male admitted to emailing his daughter multiple times which was a violation of the protection order. The male was arrested without incident. Tr. Adams assisted.
